Role of the capacitor:
the capacitor will provide additional current to obtain the phase shift necessary for the auxiliary phase to initiate the starting of the motor.
There are 2 types of starting capacitors:
Run capacitors (also called permanent capacitors): which have a low capacitance (rarely more than 30 microfarads µF)
are designed to remain energized permanently without any excessive heating.
Start capacitors: have a large capacitance that can exceed 100 microfarads.
They must absolutely not remain live otherwise they heat up very quickly and risk exploding.
(a centrifugal contact will open and thus disconnect the starting capacitor)
So the starting capacitor like the permanent capacitor ensures the starting of the motor, but the first one cuts off after starting.
